GETTING
STARTED
So
you're about to leave you home country and head for Australia for a bit of
adventure and fun in the sun burnt country? Well, before you head off,
take a look at the Traveling Essential section of the Crow’s site and look at
the inventory list below which should prepare you for every occurrence.
Most
hostels have all the cooking facilities you need so you won’t necessarily need
to bring the 12 piece silver service. If you intend on going camping
though, remember your mug, plate, knife, fork, spoon and billy can. Most
of this can be bought over here.
Bring
a sleeping bag. Most inner city hostels provide linen but, contrary to
popular belief, some states get quite cold in winter and the sheets you get just
aren’t good enough. Although saying that, look out for the electric
blankets if you are staying in the mountain regions.
Bring
a tent only if you are going camping
Bring
a Swiss army knife, even if you aren’t going camping

The
details of where you will stay when you first get here
Talk
to the locals when you get here and try and meet up with fellow travelers to see
where they have been and get tips from them.
This
is a matter of personal preference but traveling alone (Ie; not with a friend or
partner) gives you the most freedom and allows you to do what you want when you
want. This means you decide what you do everyday and won’t need to
compromise. However, traveling with someone is also fun and does save you
money, especially if you chip in together and buy a car or van. The choice
is yours but with over 300,000 backpackers traveling around Australia at anyone
time, you’ll be hard pushed to not meet a like minded person.
Have
fun and keep checking this site for the latest information. The best way
to do this is to join our free club and receive regular emails of changes to the
site and any things you should know about whilst traveling.
