On the BusesThere are two main ways to bus it around Australia. There are the usual bus companies such as McCaffertys and the like and then there are the bus tour co's like Waywards etc. Check out the bus tours page for more details (coming soon!) Your bog standard bus company prides itself on providing a level of comfort for its passengers equivalent to that of being strapped to the undercarriage of a Boeing 747 on a flight from London to Sydney. I'm not saying it's uncomfortable, but just pray you don't have to get on one of these with piles. Having said that, they get you from A to B albeit via D, E and F, and they are cheaper than flying. The main catch is that they foloow the main transit routes, stop at every tiny little town and have very little in the way of entertainment. Perfect for
the short trips but they are not waht you would expect they are all cracked
up to be on the long haul. Don't think that they are a fantastic way to
see the country side because they are not. Ask any seasone backpacker
and they will back me up on this one. The only thing that you will get
to experience when travelling by bus is the sound a kangaroo makes when
impailing itself on the bullbars of your coach which is travelling at
110km an hour. Ah you've got to love Australia!
