Travelling Australia openended

I will start my travels around Australia soon.
I have a 4WD ready to tackle Australia!!
Ever since i worked in remote Australia i have grown rather fond of the outback and have decided that i am going to travel around Australia exploring every little nook and cranny indefinitely. Working in remote roadhouses, cattle stations etc and living the dream.

Come for all of the trip or just on a short section entirely up too you.

I'm looking at going Australia to work for a year but this is my first time and not exactly sure what to do. Luckily I will be travelling with friend however he is only going to be there for a couple of months before he moves on to his next destination. Is there anyone who is looking at working for a year then going on to Asia after that?
