HOT TIP: ALWAYS SWIM BETWEEN THE FLAGS - THEY ARE THERE FOR YOUR SAFETY SO USE THEM!!!!!!!!

  • Always swim at places patrolled by Surf Life Savers

  • Always swim with a friend or under supervision by and adult

  • Do not swim under the influence of alcohol or drugs

  • Always wait about 30 minutes after a meal before you go for a swim

  • If you are unsure about surf conditions, make sure you ask a Surf Life Saver before entering the water

  • Never run and dive into the water.  Even if you checked before,  the depth of the water can change quickly with rips

  • If you get into trouble in the water, STAY CALM.  Raise your arm and signal for help, float and wait for assistance

  • If you get caught in a current or rip, don’t try and swim against it, float with it and wait for assistance - you will be helped!!!

Unfortunately, Australia has on of the highest number of skin cancer cases in the world. So throw away that European cooking oil style tanning lotion and get some real Aussie SUN BLOCK.  Slip, Slop, Slap on the Sunblock, use Factor 30+ all the time and you won’t get burnt.  Never underestimate the power of the sun.  Thanks to the depleated ozone layer the sun down under burns big time!!!  It will only take a few minutes to burn you...

And Mate, it's harsh and it hurts!
