Channel 7, 9 & 10 have all the best/worst American TV such as Seinfield, The Simpsons, Melrosse, Ally McBeal, ER, etc. Australian soaps like Neighbours, Home and Away, etc are backed up by Aussie dramas such as Blue Healers, Water Rats and All Saints. These channels also show lots of sports especially during the summer months.
HOT TIP: Good Australian comedy to watch out for include "The Great Debate", "Good News Week" and "The Back Berner".
SBS and ABC (which is state run) concentrate on documentaries, international news and sports and overseas programs such as UK drama, comedy, European TV, etc
Satellite channels (Foxtel and Optus) also exist with the usual sports, music, movies an comedy channels. The cost varies but is between $10 and $40/month.
